Pélissier now wants to take a new step against ASSE

AJ Auxerre brilliantly won on Friday evening at the opening of the sixth day of the French Ligue 1 championship against Stade Brestois (3-0). Christophe Pélissier was obviously satisfied after the meeting at the press conference but wants his team to reach a new level against ASSE next week.

Christophe Pélissier: “Tonight’s match should help us take a step forward but the last time we beat a European team (Nice on the first day of Ligue 1, editor’s note) we lost four in a row. We therefore have a level to cross again. The high level is regularity. When you see the match we delivered and the level of commitment, the demand, the intensity, the determination and the concentration displayed, that’s what I expect every week.

It’s a very good victory with three goals scored and none conceded for the first time this season. We put everything we wanted to put in, heart, intensity and determination. I know that I have quality players who are all focused on the objectives to be achieved but three quarters of our team played in Ligue 2 last season and we have foreigners arriving in the French championship. We must manage to find benchmarks.“

Elisha Owusu wants to keep a cool head: “I don’t know if it’s a benchmark match but I would say it’s a very big match. We must continue to build on this while remaining humble, without getting fired up. When we won against Nice, everyone was happy, everyone was happy. We then had a series of four defeats… So it’s nice, we have to enjoy it, it feels good. But you also have to keep a cool head.“
