PSG hosted Rennes this Friday evening (9 p.m.) as part of the 6th day of Ligue 1 2024/2025 edition and the Parisians logically won the game (3-1). Carried by Barcola who scored two goals and was very involved in Lee’s third, PSG largely revived and regained their offensive game with numerous scoring opportunities. Paris was unhappy and Rennes only really existed at the end after a penalty was awarded. SRFC even came close to 3-2 but PSG’s victory with a two-goal difference better defines the match.

The match:
Rennes kicks off and it is indeed Lee in false point, the Bretons present very high from the start (1st). Hakimi makes a huge climb on the right to launch Paris and Dembélé hits, he finds Ruiz in the area who hits from the right, causing a corner (3rd). Paris opens the score from the start: Hakimi crosses from the right, Beraldo lets it pass and deceives Rennes, Marquinhos is behind his back and opens the score, alone against Mandanda (3rd)! But Beraldo’s deflection put Marquinhos offside, goal refused (5th).
Lee does a lot of work with his back to goal in the middle and launches Dembélé who erases Ostigard but he sends a shot that is too soft against Mandanda (6th)! Despite the alerts, Rennes continues to press very high and hinders the Parisian ball exit (9th). Blas gets a first corner but it’s cleared (11th). Lee takes a corner at the near post, Neves is all alone to head back but it’s saved in front of the line (13th)! A bad pass from Beraldo is intercepted by Blas, he goes around it then hits very wide (15th).
Lee makes a fantastic deep pass for Dembélé who sinks, he hits hard against Mandanda at the post while Hakimi was alone in the center (18th)! On a percussion from Barcola, he finds Hakimi 3m from the goal, his recovery is a little missed but a player especially deflects on the bar in an incredible way (20th)! The winger had initially touched the ball a little with his hand so the goal would probably have been canceled.
In a Rennes center, Hakimi misses his clearance and puts it back on Blas who gives it back then Hakimi is countered by the same Blas and it just misses (23rd)! Rennes plays close to the PSG goal and Gouiri provokes an interesting off-center free kick, he shoots it quite badly and PSG more or less clears (26th). An acrobatic recovery from Blas in the area also misses (27th). PSG opens the score, for real: Neves scratches a ball in the middle and gives it to Dembélé who sinks towards the goal, he shifts Barcola who places a perfect curling shot (1-0, 30th)!
Rennes tries to quickly come back to the score but Marquinhos watches and tackles Kalimuendo well in the area (31st). PSG continues to attack but neither Neves nor Lee can find the target (33rd). Barcola overflows and finds Lee in the area, he passes it to Ruiz who sends a shot, deflected for a corner (36th). Huge danger in the area but Rennes emerges (37th). Dembélé loses an important ball but Beraldo saves at the end of the action (39th). Ostigard makes a tackle on Barcola but is not warned then Hakimi is too collective in the area. On the counter, Kalimuendo is found in the area but he misses his shot (44th).
Warned for having been too vehement, Dembélé immediately missed a possible pass close to the goal (45th+1) while Pacho made a big intervention on Kalimuendo in the process (45th+2). At the break, PSG led 1-0 and it was frankly poorly paid given the domination. The game starts again without changes but with STFC still pressing. PSG thinks it will score a second goal; superb opening from Neves in the back for Hakimi who controls the chest then scores but he is largely offside (48th).
Beraldo finds Barcola with a superb pass but he is caught in the area then Neves steals a ball and advances, he gives it to Lee who hits too crossly (51st). Rennes is dominated but does poorly on the counter, Beraldo breaks a counter but it comes back to Matusiwa who flies away a little (54th). The match gets tougher and the referee whistles quite a bit for SRFC (55th). Dembélé escapes full axis and he finds Barcola on the left who enjoys two Rennais then strikes but Mandanda pushes back (57th). In the process, Barcola is found on the left, he has fun then sends a superb shot onto the post, Lee is there to head back into the goal (2-0, 58th)!
Paris unfolds, Barcola gives a perfect cross from the left side to Ruiz, who controls then strikes but Mandada makes an incredible save on his line (61st)! Barcola is on fire, he walks the entire Rennes defense then hits from 20m but it’s just next to the post (64th). Rennes made changes to try to get back on track but the match did not change (68th).
Dembélé is at the start of the action, he sends Hakimi in depth who dominates the defender in the race then crosses at the far post for Barcola who closes closely (3-0, 68th)!
Rennes has its best opportunity of the match on a counterattack, Gouiri is served behind and manages a good shot, Safonov ensures and slams in for a corner (73rd)! On the corner, a Rennais header hits the hand of Beraldo who makes the gesture. Logical penalty… (73rd). Kalimuendo transforms with a confident counterattack (3-1, 75th).
Faye saves a great Parisian offensive and SRFC goes on the counter, Kalimuendo comes inside and strikes but Skriniar deflects for a corner (76th). Safonov misses a bit and concedes a second corner (77th). The new corner is dangerous but Paris emerges (77th). Paris loses control and Rennes launches into the attack (79th). The visitors scream for a handball from Zaire-Emery in the area but the Breton striker makes a mistake. PSG finally comes out, Dembélé intercepts and gives Mayulu who shoots off target (81st). On high pressure from Rennes, Gronbaek hits hard but Safonov pushes back well (84th).
Improbably, Saidu reduces the score further: he overflows on the right and advances, he hits but is blocked, it comes back to him and he lights Safonov from close range (87th). But there is a huge hand which is whistled by the referee after intervention by the VAR! PSG finished the game badly and Mbaye wasted two counterattacks in quick succession on the left side (91st).
PSG gets their foot back on the ball and Hakimi delivers a perfect cross to the near post, Kolo Muani takes it just wide (95th). Blas responds with a volley from the left captured by Safonov (96th). A final counter allows Hakimi to strike from the left, on Mandanda (97th)
