A most eco-responsible project. In the Confluence district of Lyon, the time has come for innovation. Indeed, a new building is being built until 2027, but it is unlike any other. At least, from the inside. This is a building called “Essentiel 22-26”, designed by the real estate developer Nexity, which has only one promise: to maintain a temperature between 22 and 26°C all year round, without heating or air conditioning. To do this, the building is built with honeycomb bricks to capture air and provide insulation. “The inertia is brought into the building by double brick walls, 60 cm thick walls”, explains Mathieu Blot, from Nexity, the developer of the building, on France Inter.
While this type of building remains the first on French territory, it has actually existed for several years, particularly in Austria. And to go with the innovation, the technology: some features of the apartments will be controlled by computers, like the ventilation, shutters and windows. “It’s quite simple, it’s a sensor per room, a computer and a tablet in each room. You press it, the window opens and after a quarter of an hour, the computer takes back control, either keeps the window open if necessary, or closes it,” explains Mathias Bernard, one of the building’s architects.
