Simone Veil, Louise Michel… The ten “golden women” of the Olympic opening ceremony exhibited at the National Assembly

-

They were honored during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games last July. The ten gold statues representing women from the worlds of art, literature, politics and sport will be exhibited at the National Assembly, the institution announced.

These golden sculptures can be visited at the Palais Bourbon from Monday, September 23 until Saturday, October 5. 12,000 visiting slots have been opened. Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the National Assembly, is the instigator of this exhibition, which will take place in the Cour d’honneur.

“The 10 golden women of Paris 2024 are taking up residence in the Assembly! May they inspire us this year!”, wrote the MP on X, this Thursday, September 12.

Admirable statues at Heritage Days

These statues, revealed to the general public on July 26, on the banks of the Seine, during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, were manufactured using 3D printing in polymer resin in Pas-de-Calais.

After the Games, the organizers had expressed their desire to see these four-meter-high statues exhibited in the capital.

Visitors will be able to admire Gisèle Halimi, Simone Veil, Simone de Beauvoir, Christine de Pizan, Olympe de Gouges, Jeanne Barret, Louise Michel, Alice Guy, Alice Milliat and Paulette Nardal, all dressed in gold.

These sculptures will also be accessible during the European Heritage Days, which take place on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September.
