At breakfast time, Taylor Swift’s Instagram post, which shows a photo from her shoot for the title of Person of the Year of the TIME where she snuggles up to the one and only Benjamin Button (the cat, not Brad Pitt under prosthetics), had garnered over 8.7 million likes and was still growing. Conservatives also had time to speak out, including Elon Musk who tweeted an aggressively scary proposal to “give you a kid and keep your cats” (yuck), and Trump who called Fox & Friends Wednesday to paraphrase the chorus of “We Are Never Getting Back Together” and say that he always preferred Brittany Mahomes to Taylor anyway. He doesn’t even want her support, okay? Even though he’s said multiple times in the past that he wants it, and even used AI-generated images to pretend she supported him, he doesn’t want it. But of course.

“I actually prefer Mrs. Mahomes, if you want to know the truth,” Trump said when asked if Swift had anything to say: “She’s a big Trump fan. I wasn’t a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a matter of time. But she’s a very liberal person. She always seems to support a Democrat and she’ll probably pay the price in sales. But I like Brittany. Brittany’s great. She’s my favorite over Taylor Swift. The wife of the great quarterback. I think she’s great.”

Representatives for Brittany Mahomes did not respond to a request for comment. Vanity Fair.

“Continue the fight”

The political organizing group Swifties for Kamala, which is not officially affiliated with Swift and has said it does not believe it needs to wait for official support from Taylor Swift to take action, predicted in a press release that “this impact will only grow with Taylor’s support.” Co-founder and executive director Irene Kim said: “We knew she would speak out at the right time and we are very excited to continue the fight.”

The group said it has more than 3,500 active volunteers and has raised more than $158,000 for Kamala Harris’ campaign. The group’s launch call featured speakers including senators Elizabeth Warren et Kirsten Gillibrandet Carole Kingmusic icon, performed an impromptu excerpt from the song “Shake It Off.”
