Transfers. Top 14 – Excluding Midol. Clermont: Alexandre Fischer should extend, Fritz Lee looking for one last opportunity in

According to our information, Alexandre Fischer is expected to extend his contract at Clermont in the coming weeks. Fritz Lee, on the other hand, would like to continue playing in the Top 14 for two more seasons.

The Alexandre Fischer case has a favorable outcome for the ASM. Coveted for several months by different French clubs, the Clermont flanker (27 years old) should extend his contract with the Auvergne club, according to our information. The operation could be concluded in the coming weeks, which would formalize good news for the yellow and blue institution. Little spared by injuries at the start of his career, Fischer has had a string of high-level performances this season, where he has already made fifteen appearances, as many as in the last two seasons. In addition, Alexandre Fischer has a unique profile as a scratcher which notably allowed ASM to win in , thanks to a scratching penalty obtained by the Auvergne third row. Uncommon characteristics within the Clermont pack, where Fritz Lee is also capable of throwing his hands into the rucks.

A final two-year contract in or a return to New Zealand for Lee

Precisely, the latter will leave ASM at the end of the season. Samoan number 8 (12 caps; 36 years old) announced it on January 10 at a press conference. “We discussed a lot with Christophe Urios. I will not continue to play with ASM next year. The club has its objectives, it must anticipate the future. That’s how it is. This year is a bit special for me, I'm anticipating the deadline a bit, but I'm OK with that” declared the man with 269 appearances in the yellow and blue jersey. According to our information, Lee would like to continue playing two more years in France, if the opportunity presents itself. Otherwise, he would have to return to New Zealand, twelve years after his departure from Waikato Chiefs, to begin a career change as a coach. Pio Muarua (, 28 years old) will arrive in Clermont next July to notably compensate for the loss of the Samoan at number 8, while the ASM has already recorded the extensions of Kremer, Lanen, Sowakula, Jurand and Simmons for the seasons to come.
