Transfers – After Rabah Slimani, Leinster seduced by… Joris Jurand (Clermont)!

According to our information, Joris Jurand is of interest to Leinster management. The Clermont winger (28 years old) is at the end of his contract but an extension cannot be ruled out.

After Rabah Slimaniwill Leinster hire a new Clermontois? According to our information, the Irish club is very interested in Joris Jurand. At twenty-eight years old, the ASM winger is starting his second season in Auvergne and his contract ends in June 2025. Arriving from Brive, the Provençal by birth has scored twelve tries in seventeen matches played with ASM. An outstanding finisher, Jurand scored on the first day of the Top 14 (against ) before experiencing a duller match against Racing 92. But his finishing talents have especially impressed the Irish leaders in the Challenge Cup semi-final against the Durban Sharks.

Initially there to supervise Rabah Slimani destroying the left axis of the South African scrum, the Leinster emissaries were also seduced that day by Joris Jurand’s double, who even narrowly missed out on a hat-trick. Since then, the “Boys in Blue” staff have observed the performances of the Clermont winger at the end of last season. However, to date, if the Leinstermen seem interested in the Provençal and have started discussions with his entourage, no contractual offer has yet been received.

Fainga’a, Simmons, Belleau… What strategy for the end of contracts?

Recruited by Christophe Urios, Joris Jurand could see his future linked to that of the Clermont manager. The latter wants to extend in Auvergne and the discussions are, to date, positive between the two parties.

Beyond the Jurand case, several important ASM players are coming to the end of their contracts next June. Up front, Folau Fainga’a, Rob Simmons and Pita Gus Sowakula are notably concerned. The two Australians are key players in the group while the former All Black raises his level week after week. His last outing, against , was particularly praised by his coach.

While their non-Jiff status could slow down the Clermont management, their level of play remains a major asset. Behind, Anthony Belleau and Benjamin Urdapilleta are also at the end of their contracts. If the Argentinian is not expected to be extended, the case of the Frenchman will be decisive for the future and the recruitment of one or two fly-halfs. Finally, the profile of Bautista Delguy will also be one to follow. Having arrived in Clermont in 2022, the Argentinian winger is currently with the Pumas in the Rugby Championship.
