In “transit to Copenhagen”, Francis Lalanne published two videos on X where he explains his intention to go to Greenland to try to obtain the release of Paul Watson. “I try to mobilize as many people as possible in the artistic world. I am starting to be joined by many artists who support me and who I hope will join me in singing for the release of Paul Watson. Or to help Sea Shepherd carry out its campaigns if Paul Watson is released,” he explains.

The artist, his features drawn, appeals to “the artistic and intellectual world” to come to the aid of this “hero of humanity”. “It is time for the artistic and intellectual world to rediscover a sense of courage and commitment,” he believes. “I have always been a committed artist, I have known many around me who were also. And, there, I meet less and less.”

Songs in Greenlandic

Francis Lalanne plans to go to Nuuk, capital of Greenland (autonomous territory under Danish authority), to support the environmental activist “with other artist friends who are waiting for me there”. On the menu: support songs, “in Greenlandic”. Before pleading his case in the United States and then in Australia.

Paul Watson was arrested on July 21 aboard his boat during a technical stopover. An international arrest warrant was issued against him by Japan, due to anti-whaling activities, of which he is a fervent critic.
