Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton can’t imagine that their reality TV show The Simple Life will be filmed again. The two stars did not have access to their cell phones while filming the show… something that no 20-year-old would accept, they told the Los Angeles Times.
Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton don’t believe their 2000s reality show, The Simple Life, could exist today.
In 2003, the duo launched their reality TV series The Simple Life, in which the two It-girls move in with a middle-class family and try to adapt to their new environment, without money.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Nicole Richie explained that the absence of technology, unthinkable today, was an important aspect of the series.
“From the first to the third season, we didn’t have a phone,” recalls the 43-year-old fashion designer. “We had no idea where we were going. We completely left our lives for a month straight.”
-The star noted that she doesn’t think today’s 20-year-olds would be willing to give up their phones for a month, adding: “We were really cut off from the world.”
Paris Hilton also reflected on the success of the reality TV show. “It’s amazing to be the pioneers who really inspired so many others to try to do similar shows,” enthused the 43-year-old singer. “I’m really proud of what Nicole and I have done, to be pioneers in this field.”
Although the iconic duo has no plans to launch a reboot of The Simple Life, they recently reunited for the show’s 20th anniversary. Paris & Nicole: The Encore, a three-part special, followed the TV personalities as they attempted to write, produce and star in their own opera, inspired by a song they created in their youth, Sanasa.
