A serious fire ravaged one of the monuments of the French capital, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. After several hours of effort on the part of the firefighters, the flames were mastered.
The disaster broke out around 4 a.m. and quickly spread, arousing the concern of the inhabitants. From 6 a.m., an important rescue device was deployed to contain the fire. The firefighters are on site in number, trying to limit the damage. Around 7 am, the firefighters announced to AFP that the fire had been completely mastered.
A risk of collapse
The images broadcast on social networks testified to the intensity of the fire. The firefighters told BFM Paris: “The beams are well blackened, it is no longer due to much.” A worrying scenario in the early morning, while the structure of the belfry seemed weakened by the flames.
Faced with the danger, a security perimeter had been put in place, preventing access to the neighborhood, including for local residents. The authorities quickly took the situation very seriously, and Laurent Nuñez, Paris police prefect, went there to supervise the operations.
