In Paris, the tragic death of a teenager, a reflection of the “gratuitous violence” of two repeat minors

Violence and excess. On Saturday noon, a 14-year-old teenager died in Paris for refusing to give his cell phone to his attackers, who were already repeat offenders at just 16 and 17 years old. Shortly before 8 p.m. on Friday, Élias and his friend Samuel were leaving a football match at the Jules-Noël sports center, avenue Maurice-d’Ocagne, in 14^e district of Paris, when they were accosted by two young men in black jogging pants. The latter forcefully demanded that Elias give them his phone, but the teenager refused to give in. Without waiting, one of the thieves pulled out a blade and stabbed it into the boy’s right shoulder. Samuel was punched in the face before the attackers fled, without the coveted loot.
