Tomorrow marks a great return for Youssouphawho will officially unveil his new album “SUPREME LOVE”three years after the success of “NEPTUNE TERMINAL”. This ambitious project is accompanied by a documentary filmavailable on his YouTube channel, which delves into the last three years of his life. Between intense preparation and captivating behind the scenes, this film demonstrates the rapper’s authentic artistic approach.
As part of the promotion of his album, Youssoupha continues the interviews. He was recently a guest on the show CKOwhere he spoke openly about his career, his beginnings and especially his childhood. The opportunity for him to look back on a particular period: his life in the neighborhood.
“I was taken hostage by the city. From the age of 10 to the age of 25, I have lived in all the neighborhoods. Because in fact, it is social precariousness who put me in this. It’s not because I wanted to stay there. I wanted to leave,” he confided with emotion. A difficult reality that contrasts with the glorification often conveyed in the rap world. Youssoupha expressed his incomprehension regarding certain speeches: “ I freaked out when I heard rap saying: ‘I don’t want to leave the neighborhood’. How they can say that is crazy.”
This powerful testimony reveals another side of the artist, who makes a point of denouncing the shortcomings of life in the city, while paying tribute to his journey. “SUPREME LOVE” promises to be an introspective and committed work, faithful to Youssoupha’s mark in the French rap landscape.
