“The treasure hunt can begin.” French NBA star Victor Wembanyama posted geolocation codes online on Sunday January 19 leading to five display walls located in Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, Lyon and Lille. “Five cities, 5 QR Codes, 10 places”explained the 21-year-old French international on Instagram, in a message accompanied by a video showing a poster “Wemby invites you to his 2 matches in Paris”.
Nicknamed “the alien”, the Basketball player is expected in Paris in the coming days to play two matches in the North American championship. His San Antonio Spurs team will face the Indiana Pacers on Thursday January 23 and Saturday January 25 in Bercy, where the 2.21 m giant won Olympic silver with the Blues last summer.
The first to arrive at the treasure hunt site were disillusioned when they discovered that the QR code displayed only led them to a draw to win places for one of the two meetings. In Bordeaux, “the QR codes have been graffitied (…) and are no longer usable”another Internet user was indignant, while residents of other municipalities regretted being excluded from the operation, such as in Toulouse or, here, in Strasbourg, where we do not lose the sense of humor nonetheless.
