NO to the Community Policy Declaration

YES to quality teaching!”

In these different images published on the social network, there are children from primary and nursery classes, all dressed in black and making faces, sticking out their tongues, or making thumbs-down gestures, alongside their teachers, also dressed in black. At the back of the class, a large poster with the inscription: Black Day.

If it is obvious that this type of action contravenes the elementary rule regarding the neutrality of the school and its teachers, it is worrying to see the rule not only flouted but even more ignored (naively?) since advertising of the action was made on social networks.

Who will take responsibility?

Several questions therefore arise. Who took the initiative? Who authorized this action exploiting children? Have the parents agreed? Since their children are in costume, it seems that is the case. Is management responsible for this?

The acting director, Ms. Virginie Paquot, was contacted. She did not want to answer these essential questions. However, the disputed post was liked and shared by Education Alderwoman Kyriaki Michelis (PS). Gilles Agosti pinches himself: “I find it scandalous that young children, who don’t even know what they are doing there, are being used for political purposes, to serve union dogmas. School is a sanctuary of neutrality. I find that unthinkable.

Who approved this in advance? Socialist Education Alderwoman Kyriaki Michelis shares this post on her Facebook! I remind you that the Wavrian PS is in power with the Engagés and that the latter are at the minister-presidency of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation… This is a serious fault in relation to the sacrosanct Neutrality of the school.”

Wavrian socialist alderwoman Kyriaki Michelis apologizes: “On a personal level, when I liked and shared this post, I did not do the right thing, I admit it. But I am politically engaged… This is not the first time that I am openly supportive of the teachers. This is why I posted it on my FB account. Furthermore, I would like to point out that the OP was not consulted beforehand. There is a concern for neutrality. teaching. will resolve this internally with the school administration.”

The post disappeared from the school’s FB page two hours after our article was published on the newspaper’s website.
