The Montresso Foundation announces the organization of its 6th “IN-Discipline” program. A program that combines artistic residencies and meetings with the public. “It promotes a dialogue from and on the African continent highlighting and giving voice to a different territory each year,” indicate the organizers.

For this 6th edition, IN-Discipline focuses on Togo, its history and its collective memory through art. The event questions the notion of living, drawing on vodun and Fâ, ancestral knowledge from the Gulf of Benin. These practices transcend Western conceptions of religion, geomancy, or science… to offer a vision of the world where humans and the universe are indivisible. The Togolese artists of this edition are: Hélène Amouzou, Kossi Assou, Sokey Edorh, Ake O’lokan, Thierry Tomety, William Adjeté Wilson, and Elom 20ce. “The whole explores this spiritual and cultural richness. Although some are not initiated into vodun and Fâ, all share a vision nourished by this knowledge. Their work goes beyond traditional techniques to offer a contemporary, intercultural and universal reflection on existence and identity,” explains the foundation. Under the direction of curator Ayoko Mensah, this edition invites a deep exploration of ancestral knowledge and symbols in a living and dynamic dialogue, at the crossroads of cultures and eras.
