Public health: free screening for diabetes and high blood pressure

According to estimates, high blood pressure and diabetes mellitus are diseases that are becoming more and more prevalent within the elements of the Public Force. These diseases cause complications, notably strokes, namely heart and kidney diseases. Specialists have noticed that there are more and more sudden deaths and strokes within the public force.

In addition to the awareness campaign, screening and free treatment of blood pressure and diabetes mellitus for the benefit of Public Force personnel and their families, the Central Directorate of Health Services of the Ministry of National Defense had to strengthen the operational capacities of hospitals and clinics with a view to facilitating paid emergency surgical interventions during the same period.

« I will ask all elements of the Public Force to come and get tested, because, il is free and concerns high blood pressure as well as diabetes mellitus. You might as well get vaccinated, you are aware that we are sick people who we do not know. Getting screened already helps prevent complications related to diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure, including stroke, heart disease and chronic kidney disease. “, explained one of the supervisors, medical commander Armel Mbita Mebongo.

Addressing the issue of follow-up, he indicated that all patients who are detected will be followed by specialists, specifically cardiologists and diabetologists who are available at the Pierre-Mobengo Central Army Hospital.
