A man died on Thursday in a bar in Büren an der Aare, east of Biel. Controlled by the security agents of the scene, he lost consciousness and then died.
The tragedy took place on Thursday shortly after 9 p.m. The Bernese police were alerted to a medical emergency in a bar. Officers found an unconscious man being treated by emergency workers. But he could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
This man “would have previously physically and verbally bothered people present in the bar. The two agents from a private security company asked the man to leave the premises and the man did not comply. The security officers then used pepper spray and put the man on the ground, following which the man lost consciousness, for reasons yet to be clarified,” details the Bernese cantonal police this Monday in a press release.
The deceased is a 62-year-old Swiss resident in the canton. The cause of his death is described as “unclear at this time.” An investigation was opened by the Bernese police under the direction of the Bernese Jura – Zealand Public Prosecutor’s Office.
