The cool weather that has prevailed over a large part of Senegal since December will persist until February, declared Diabel Ndiaye, head of the Climate Services department of the National Civil Aviation and Meteorology Agency (ANACIM), during from an interview Tuesday with the APS.

According to Mr. Ndiaye, the monthly evolution shows that the month of January will continue to be marked by these cool temperatures which have covered a large part of the country since the end of the previous year. Indeed, relatively low temperatures, accompanied by moderate probabilities, are expected over most of the territory.

For the month of February, Diabel Ndiaye anticipates a slight increase in temperatures. This gradual transition to warmer conditions will be accompanied by a persistence of coolness until the end of the month, particularly along the coastal fringe which extends from Dakar to Mbour, in the Thiès region.

Mr. Ndiaye also specified that in March, a gradual installation of heat is expected, especially in the eastern part of the country, with heat peaks expected. This analysis is part of the average temperature trend forecast for January to March 2025.

To refine these forecasts, ANACIM will continue to provide daily and monthly bulletins, allowing these quarterly outlooks to be adjusted. Senegal will therefore have to prepare for this climate transition, reported the APS in its declarations.
