Outlook 2025 (5/5): decisive year for deep geothermal energy in Haute-Sorne

The deep geothermal project in Haute-Sorne is entering a decisive phase with a view to its realization. The year that has just begun should make it possible to determine whether or not the project will be able to continue on its way. A decision from the cantonal authorities is expected during next fall. In the meantime, various data will be collected to continue the evaluation of the project, particularly in terms of seismic risks. Hydraulic stimulation tests will be carried out in March-April. They aim to measure the capacity to make the rock more permeable and to measure its seismic response, indicates the director of Geo-Energie Jura, Olivier Zingg. This operation is “at the heart of risk analysis”, underlines the man who manages the project. Still with the idea of gathering information, vibrating trucks will be used again this month but in a more restricted area than last April, i.e. between the villages of Bassecourt, Boécourt and Glovelier. The objective is to have three-dimensional data to have a more precise image of the subsoil.
