Death of Jacques Zanetta, an essential figure in the history of French-speaking television – rts.ch

Journalist Jacques Zanetta has died. A figure on RTS (and TSR), he has worked in many emblematic television events. On January 1, 1982, he was the first presenter of the brand new French-speaking news broadcast from Geneva, during the 5:45 p.m. program – which preceded, at the time, the 7:30 p.m.

Jacques Zanetta was part of the history of French-speaking television. He was the first to present the news from Geneva, on January 1, 1982, during the 5:45 p.m. edition. A completely new formula for the television news which was then divided into three, with the main edition at 7:30 p.m. and that at night.

His adventure on television news lasted 10 years. The man quite naturally established himself as an essential figure in what was still called, at the time, TSR – French-speaking Swiss Television.

“Curious by profession”, in his own words, Jacques Zanetta, driven by his keen sense of information, covered strong moments, sometimes historic, such as the trial of Klaus Barbie, the “butcher of ” and famous criminal of SS war.

Sense of humor and a smirk in all circumstances, he has touched on everything, from educational programs to major interviews, like with Plantu or Lilian Thuram.

Jacques Zanetta commonly practiced humor, as in this subject where he entered the scene from the cockpit of a tank, all with a small model of the same tank, which he proposed to buy for 13.-, instead of true at 6000.-. [RTS]
