Los Angeles Kings fans held their breath in the third period of Saturday night’s duel against the Tampa Bay Lightning when defenseman Joel Edmundson flew away before falling heavily to the ice.
Trying to catch a puck while jumping, the former Montreal Canadiens found himself on top of forward Zemgus Girgensons. With the hip thrust, Edmundson fell oddly and it was his back and neck that seemed to absorb the shock.

The 31-year-old veteran needed a few seconds to regain his senses before a sports therapist arrived. He was visibly shaken, but the worst seemed to have been avoided.
Edmundson did not make another appearance on the ice in this meeting which ended in a 2-1 victory for the Kings.
The organization certainly hopes that the giant fullback will come out of this without any problems, especially since he had a good first half of the season. In 35 games, he collected 10 points in addition to maintaining a differential of +12.
