After the victory in Vegas, CH returned to action this evening in Chicago.
He wanted to increase his winning streak to four.
Here are the alignments:
Remember that for the Habs, Patrik Laine and David Savard had to give way to Michael Pezzetta and Jayden Struble.
From the start of the meeting, Montreal showed indiscipline.
Arber Xhekaj and Jayden Struble, who replaced David Savard, received a minor penalty in the same sequence.
The Blackhawks obviously took advantage of this great opportunity to score. Tyler Bertuzzi broke the ice.
After the goal, Xhekaj avenged his penalty by throwing down the gloves against Patrick Maroon.
He laid him down quite easily.
At the end of the period, the visitors created the tie through Cole Caufield.
He was left alone in front of the net. He became the first player on the team since Max Pacioretty to score 20 goals in four consecutive seasons.
Midway through the second period, while the two teams exchanged chances, the Hawks took the lead again.
Nick Foligno was credited with the goal.
At the start of the third period, Maroon hurt CH.
He doubled his team’s lead.
But Emil Heineman scored a superb power play goal moments later.
His 10th of the season.
It wasn’t enough, however, because not only did Montreal not score another goal, but Foligno scored his second goal of the game.
Final score: 4-2 Chicago. Montreal still directed 40 shots towards the net.
Martin St-Louis’ troop will be in action tomorrow in Colorado.
