Launch of an architectural competition for future stations

The National Railway Office (ONCF) has officially launched an architectural competition for the design of the LGV station of the Green City of Benguérir as well as the RER stations of the Green City, Sidi Bouathmane, Sidi Ghanem, and the Stade de Marrakesh. This ambitious project is part of the development of the high-speed line (LGV) linking Kenitra to Marrakech, with the aim of meeting the growing needs of users while modernizing the Kingdom’s railway infrastructure.

Modern and innovative infrastructures

These new stations will be equipped with the most advanced technologies to offer an optimized travel experience, combining fluidity, comfort and efficiency. The ONCF promises platforms that meet high standards in terms of energy management and eco-responsibility. They will also be designed to incorporate innovations in sustainable construction, meeting the expectations of modern travelers.

In addition to these LGV infrastructures, the project introduces a regional express network (RER) connecting the main cities and strategic areas of the region. This initiative aims to provide a fast, efficient and commute-friendly mode of transport, thereby strengthening accessibility and connectivity across the region.

The Green City station: an ecological and connected urban center

The LGV station in the Green City of Benguérir will be located near National Road No. 9 and not far from the region’s future RER station. It is part of the development of the Green City of Benguérir, an innovative urban center focused on ecology, knowledge and technology. Designed around the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, this city of knowledge aims to become a model of futuristic urban planning, integrating intelligent and sustainable solutions for its inhabitants.

  • Sidi Ghanem : Located in the Menara district of Marrakech, near the industrial zone of Sidi Ghanem, this station will facilitate travel to one of the major economic centers of the ocher city.
  • Marrakech Stadium : This station, located near the Marrakech Stadium, is designed to meet the needs of travelers going to this sports platform, particularly during major events.

A vision for the future

The ONCF positions this project as a key element of its modernization and expansion strategy. By strengthening the rail network between Kenitra and Marrakech, it aims to support economic growth, improve the mobility of citizens, and respond to environmental challenges.

These infrastructures promise to offer world-class rail service, while contributing to the development of strategic urban centers and the reduction of regional disparities. With these new stations, Morocco is taking a further step towards sustainable and connected mobility, looking to the future.
