No podium for the Swiss on Sunday in the Semmering slalom. Fourth in a race won by an impressive Zrinka Ljutic, Camille Rast nevertheless retained 1st place in the discipline rankings. The Valaisanne also took over the general’s command.
The Swiss slalom racers have come down from their clouds after their Killington double (Rast 1st, Wendy Holdener 2nd). However, they once again delivered a superb overall performance: Holdener finished 6th, Mélanie Meillard 7th and the surprising Eliane Christen 12th.
Third on the first course, Camille Rast could not do better than the 18th time on the second course. She lost one place to Austrian Katharina Liensberger, who moved from 7th to 3rd place. Lena Dürr retained 2nd place but was unable to do anything against the tornado Zrinka Ljutic.
Second in the Killington giant at the end of November, Zrinka Ljutic dominated the proceedings on Sunday in both the first and second heats to beat Lena Dürr by 1”75 in the end. The 20-year-old Croatian, who signs her first success at this level, thus climbs to 2nd place in the general ranking and 3rd in the slalom.

Leader of the discipline’s ranking, Camille Rast has perfectly managed the pressure that has inevitably increased since her success at Killington. The 25-year-old Vétrozienne displays remarkable consistency in slalom this winter: 5th in Levi, 3rd in Gurgl, 1st in Killington and 4th in Semmering.
Mélanie Meillard also confirmed her consistency by achieving her fourth top 10 in four slaloms contested this winter. The skier from Hérémence may nevertheless regret the mistake made at the bottom of the second route, without which she could have aimed for the top 5. But she seems ripe for a first podium in slalom.
