Madiambal Diagne was heard this Monday by Urban Security, following complaints filed by Diop Taïf and Abdoulaye Sylla, boss of Ecotra. Released after his hearing, the journalist announced his intention to file a complaint against the Pastef activist for slanderous denunciation. However, he chose to spare Abdoulaye Sylla, citing the bonds they shared in the past.
This Monday, December 16, 2024, Madiambal was heard following the complaint filed by Mamadou Lamine Diop, known as Diop Taïf. “The complainant is offended that, in a post published on X, I gave my support to Ab A. Nguer, victim of assault and battery, and who filed a complaint against him. Nguer had posted a video showing his injuries and indicating that he had filed a complaint against Diop Taïf, whom he accuses of having attacked him with a knife after leaving a mission,” said the journalist.
Madiambal also announced that he had responded to this complaint with a counter-complaint for slanderous denunciation, on the basis of article 362 of the Senegalese Penal Code. This counter-complaint was filed at the end of his hearing.
The same day, Monday December 16, 2024, Madiambal was heard in another case, following a complaint filed by Abdoulaye Sylla, boss of the Ecotra company who became a political actor. “Abdoulaye Sylla associated me with a complaint he made against the newspaper The Dailyfor a publication dating from August 6, 2024. However, it is public knowledge that I am neither the publishing director of this newspaper nor the author of the article in question. Associating myself with this complaint is a real aberration,” he said.
He also recalled that the Ecotra company, through its lawyer, Me Demba Ciré Bathily, had already exercised its right of reply in the edition of the newspaper The Daily the next day, August 7, 2024. “This means that this complaint seems to have other motivations,” he added.
However, unlike Diop Taïf, Madiambal has clarified that he does not intend to pursue Abdoulaye Sylla for slanderous denunciation. “I must sincerely say that this saddens me very much. Abdoulaye Sylla was able to pass for a friend. In the name of our common religious guide, the late Serigne Saliou Mbacké, he sometimes sent me a sheep on the occasion of Tabaski or a bull for the Magal of Touba. Certainly, the current political situation, which pushes certain weak minds to seek at all costs to please Ousmane Sonko, can dictate unworthy postures. I would not allow myself to file a complaint against Abdoulaye Sylla. I would be ashamed of it. »
