The wali of Bank Al-Maghrib, Abdellatif Jouahri affirmed that it was premature to comment on the possible financial repercussions of the organization of the 2030 World Cup.
In statements to the press, Jouahri stressed that hosting this global event will be accompanied by diverse and significant revenues.
He specified that, although the organization of the tournament will mobilize a part of the national budget, it will generate significant economic benefits, in particular through the value added tax (VAT) and the increase in investments. He also rejected preconceived ideas linking this organization to increased inflation or other negative effects on the Moroccan economy.
Morocco will co-host this competition with Spain and Portugal, after FIFA officially awarded the task to the three countries.
This award is part of a series of major football events, including the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
This declaration is intended to be reassuring on an economic level, affirming Morocco’s capacity to meet the financial challenges linked to this global event while maximizing the economic opportunities it offers.
