The taxis announced that they would continue their mobilization on Tuesday, December 3, in Lyon. Blockages, in the same places as the day before, will be put in place in the urban area and around the metropolis from 6 a.m.. They will also mobilize in front of Lyon hospitals.
The drivers are protesting against the new CNAM (National Health Insurance Fund) agreement concerning medical transport, which they consider “unsustainable”. They fear that thousands of taxis will eventually disappear.
The taxis made the decision to pursue during a meeting Monday at the Place Bellecour gathering. We will therefore have to avoid traveling in the urban area this Tuesday, while monster traffic jams have marked the start of the week.
The five blocking points
Here are the five blocking points where taxis will mobilize from early in the morning.
- M6, at the Valvert interchange (Tassin-la-Demi-Lune);
- Les Îles node interchange (A42 – A46 – Eastern ring road);
- A43, near Saint-Priest – Porte des Alpes;
- A7/A450 interchange;
- A7, near the interchange with the southern urban boulevard (D301).
We also learn that the taxi strike notice has been extended until Sunday December 8. The drivers do not exclude the possibility of mobilizing during the Festival of Lights which takes place from December 5 to 8 in Lyon.
