Twenty-one people were arrested on Monday, December 2 during an operation carried out as part of the investigation into the shooting targeting Marseille rapper SCH and the extortion attempts to which he was the subject, franceinfo learned from a source close to the file, confirming information from Parisian. At the end of August, the shooting left one dead and one seriously injured, two close to the rapper.
The operation carried out Monday morning targets members of the DZ Mafia, the Marseille drug trafficking clan. Six people, among the 21 arrested, were taken from several prisons in the south-east of France. Among these six people is a man who is one of the main members of the DZ Mafia, according to a source close to the matter to franceinfo. The suspects are currently in police custody to try to clarify the roles of each in this case.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Marseille judicial police (Bouches-du-Rhône) and the research section of the Montpellier gendarmerie (Hérault). Investigators believe they have now identified the entire group behind the shooting at the end of August: perpetrator, sponsor, logisticians for the supply of weapons and vehicles.
At the end of August, a burst of automatic weapons left one dead and another seriously injured in La Grande Motte (Hérault), near the La Dune nightclub, where the Marseille rapper SCH was performing. The two victims were close to the rapper. Around thirty large caliber shell casings were found on site. According to one of the investigators' hypotheses, the rapper SCH was the target of this shooting. According to information from franceinfo, it was an attempted racket that went wrong after the rapper SCH resisted the intimidation to which he and his family were subjected.
