Soyhières: Children sow terror

The events reported by “Le Quotidien Jurassien” this week are barely credible: a gang of turbulent kids, whose hard core is said to be made up of 3 to 4 children aged 8 to 10, have been “spreading terror” since July in the village of Soyhières (JU). And the list of misdeeds reported “is as long as two arms”, specifies the newspaper. The children allegedly stole a lady’s handbag, shot chickens with a BB gun or set fire to a sheep shed with stolen candles. They were also caught several times kicking graves in the cemetery or damaging equipment in the church.

“They even defecated under a statue of the Holy Virgin,” laments the president of the Soyhières parish. These enfant terribles, who sometimes come out hooded according to residents, have been seen at night and some witnesses say they have seen them with a knife and a small axe. The “Quotidien Jurassien” writes that these are children “from the same home, who arrived this summer in Soyhières from German-speaking Switzerland”. The Child and Adult Protection Authority and the Public Prosecutor’s Office are on the scene. The village mayor calls for calm and considers that there is currently no evidence to attribute all these acts to these young people.
