Rabat – The 3rd edition of CoDays, organized by the Oncology Clinic November 16, November 22 and 23 in Rabat, brought together an audience of national and international experts for two days of exchanges and debates around the theme “The Patient at the heart of innovation”.

Carried out in collaboration with the Moroccan association of supportive care in cancer (MoASCC), this edition highlighted medical and technological advances intended to improve the care of patients with cancer, the organizers indicate in a press release.

The CoDays constitute a unique platform for discussion and exchange of ideas between health professionals, in order to strengthen the place of the patient in the process of innovation in oncology, at a time when access to the most advanced treatments remains a challenge, emphasizing the importance of guaranteeing every Moroccan citizen the right to benefit from quality health care.

Quoted by the press release, the director of the November 16 Oncology Clinic, Mounir Bachouchi, who spoke at the opening of this high-level event, observed that this new edition of CoDays marks a major turning point, bringing together world-renowned experts from Morocco, Africa, United States, , Canada, Belgium.

“This year, we are also celebrating the creation of MO-MASCC, the Moroccan subsidiary of this global association, which will strengthen the integration of supportive care into the patient journey in Morocco,” he said.

This edition was a valuable opportunity to highlight the expertise of the November 16 Oncology Clinic, while allowing other experts to present the latest advances and innovations in the field, Mr. Bachouchi also affirmed.

The program for the 3rd edition of CoDays highlighted essential themes for contemporary oncology, with varied and content-rich sessions, indicates the press release, noting that among the highlights included a session dedicated to supportive care and telemedicine, where innovative digital tools for patient monitoring were presented, notably by the president of the MoASCC, Florian Scotté, who underlined the importance of remote monitoring.

He also affirmed that this third edition of CoDays is an event of major importance which highlights innovation in the care of cancer patients, adding that this event addresses two key aspects, namely effectiveness treatments, with several communications on therapeutic advances in various themes such as breast cancer, digestive cancers or even lung cancers, and the qualitative approach thanks to supportive care”.

The objective of supportive care is to optimize treatments, both in terms of effectiveness and that of tolerance, in order to improve not only the quantity of life but above all the quality of life of patients, a- he explained, indicating that this vision, supported by MASCC, the international association of supportive care, places the latter as a fundamental pillar of oncological care.

Discussions also focused on major cancers such as breast, lung, prostate and digestive cancers, highlighting targeted therapies and the latest advances in radiotherapy.

The president of Curreety, François-Guirec Champoiseau, specified, in this regard, that targeted therapies and advances in radiotherapy open up new perspectives in the treatment of major cancers, considering that these innovations, combined with a patient-centered approach , make it possible to significantly improve the effectiveness of care while reducing side effects.

“The discussions at this event demonstrate the importance of international collaboration to advance oncology,” he continued.

For her part, oncologist Fatma Ben Abid assured that supportive care represents an essential dimension in the care of patients with cancer, noting that it is not limited to supporting treatments, but aims to improve the quality of life of patients by meeting their physical, psychological and social needs.

“Through this edition of COdays, we were able to demonstrate the importance of integrating this care from diagnosis and throughout the therapeutic pathway,” she said, noting that “this reflects our commitment to offering in global and human care, where each patient is at the heart of our priorities”.

At the same time, symposia sponsored by leaders in the pharmaceutical industry, including Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Roche and MSD, made it possible to discover cutting-edge therapeutic innovations, underlines the press release, specifying that this edition was also marked by the joint session with the MoASCC, which explored the prospects for the development of supportive care in Morocco and internationally.

Coming from the United States, Professor Hope Rugo noted that this joint session was an opportunity to highlight the importance of international collaborations to improve supportive care in oncology, both in Morocco and globally. , adding that “by working together, we can address the complex challenges of oncology and offer patients more effective treatments that are better suited to their needs.”

The participants unanimously praised the quality of the exchanges and the central role of CoDays in sharing knowledge and developing innovative solutions for Moroccan patients. The event also made it possible to strengthen dialogue between researchers, clinicians and institutional partners.
