The Telecommunications and Postal Regulatory Authority (ARTP) has severely called several telephone operators to order for non-compliance with their displayed pricing.
According to our colleagues at Libération, the ARTP sent formal notices to Orange (represented by its general director, Sékou Dramé), Expresso (directed by Fatou Sow Kane), Sirius Telecom (under the direction of Hamadoul Mbackiou Faye), and Sahl (portrayed by Kamal Okba). This decision follows a control campaign carried out in September 2024 under the leadership of Dahirou Thiam, director general of the ARTP. The objective of this campaign was to verify compliance and compliance with the prices displayed for voice telephony services, SMS messages, as well as Internet offers and packages.
In the formal notice, Dahirou Thiam declares: “At the end of this campaign, we noted several cases of non-compliance. » He adds, in a firm tone: “These facts constitute a breach of the obligation, defined by articles 29 and 30 of the Electronic Communications Code and point 12 of the specifications, to ensure fair and transparent pricing . »
In application of article 177 of the Electronic Communications Code, the ARTP thus ordered the operators in question to comply with the legal provisions within thirty days.
