El Jadida – The works of the 19th edition of the International Building Exhibition (SIB) opened on Wednesday at the Mohammed VI Exhibition Center in El Jadida, under the theme “Controlled implementation, valued materials and buildings”.
This event, whose opening ceremony was chaired by the Minister of National Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and Urban Policy, Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, is being held until November 22, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
This edition brings together the main national and international players in the construction and public works sector, focusing on innovations, trends and challenges of the industry.
SIB 2024, organized by the Ministry of National Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and Urban Policy, in partnership with the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE) , the Federation of Construction Materials Industries (FMC) and the National Federation of Building and Public Works (FNBTP), welcomes more than 1,500 brands representing 50 countries over an area of 30,000 m².
This year, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania is the special guest of the Show, a choice highlighting the strong ties between Morocco and Mauritania, particularly in the field of construction.
Speaking on this occasion, the Secretary of State for Housing, Adib Benbrahim, underlined that the SIB constitutes a unique platform for sharing experiences, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence applied to new construction methods. .
He indicated, in a statement to MAP, that the ministry’s strategy is based on two main axes: strengthening the housing supply and supervising processes and regulations, in order to guarantee viable and high-quality equipment.
Referring to the Direct Housing Assistance Program launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in 2023, Mr. Benbrahim recalled that this program aims to allow citizens to access decent housing, while boosting the economy of the sector, by creating jobs and increasing added value in housing.
Taking part in this event, the Mauritanian Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and Territorial Planning, Ngalou Mamoudou Niang, for his part, underlined that the participation of the Mauritanian delegation at the SIB, with a dedicated stand to the exhibition of its products, demonstrates the mutual interest for a strengthened partnership.
He affirmed, in a statement to MAP, his country’s desire to strengthen cooperation with Morocco. “We hope that this meeting will allow the development of an ambitious roadmap to promote exchanges and expertise in the field of construction materials and building,” he said.
“This collaboration promises to further consolidate the strategic and fraternal relations between our two countries,” concluded Mr. Niang.
Note that a dense scientific program punctuates this event, with conferences led by renowned experts, including the architect Corinne Vezzoni. The themes covered include sustainability, materials recovery and innovative construction techniques. Visitors can also take advantage of dedicated spaces such as the SIB Academy for specialized training, the Demonstration Space for live presentations, and the B2B Space, coordinated by the FMC, to encourage professional partnerships.
Innovation is also at the heart of this edition, with the introduction of a mobile application that offers real-time information and allows appointments with exhibitors to be scheduled. Immersive 3D stands, charging stations for electric vehicles and a Start-up Space dedicated to emerging Moroccan companies demonstrate the SIB’s commitment to a sustainable and innovative sector.
Created in 1986, the SIB has established itself as an essential platform for construction professionals. The 2024 edition attracts a diverse audience, consolidating its position as an international crossroads and offering participants unique opportunities to discover trends, strengthen their networks and promote responsible development of the sector.
