Laine trained alone before the rest of the team on Wednesday at the CN Sports Complex. He then remained on the ice for the first exercises at the start of training with his teammates. However, he wore a sweater indicating that he should avoid contact and left the ice after about fifteen minutes.
Laine was injured during a preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, after contact with Cédric Paré. He preferred not to have surgery.
The Canadian acquired his services from the Columbus Blue Jackets in August.
The 26-year-old Finn has not played in the NHL since December 14. He was sidelined due to a broken collarbone. He then joined the NHL and NHLPA player assistance program to restore his mental health.
The Canadian has won his last two matches. He will host the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday at the Bell Centre.
On the other hand, forward Brendan Gallagher did not participate in the Habs’ training on Wednesday, instead taking advantage of a day of treatments.
