UPDATE: BLOCKING ENDED

The farmers' blockade was lifted in the middle of the day, at the large Perthus toll gate. Traffic is gradually returning to normal on the A9 motorway and in Spain, near the border.

The mobilization continues for farmers. This Wednesday, November 20, demonstrators are still positioned in Boulou (Pyrénées-Orientales) and are blocking the large Perthus toll barrier, on the A9 motorway. An action that leads traffic difficulties as far as Spain. News Perpignan takes stock of traffic.

Point on the highway

On the highway first. As a reminder, the A9 and AP-7 are completely closed in the Spain- direction between Figueras and Le Boulou. Hundreds of trucks are stored on the axis, making it impossible for light vehicles to travel.

In the France-Spain direction, the motorway is open, but traffic is very disrupted near the border. Eight kilometers of traffic jams are reported on the A9 and the AP-7, after the Boulou toll barrier and to La Jonquerawhere exit is compulsory for all vehicles. The AP-7 is also closed in this direction between La Jonquera and Figueras.

For the rest, traffic is fluid and completely normal, between Perpignan and Le Boulou, in both directions of traffic. As you will have understood, if you arrive from Perpignan via the A9, it is advisable to exit at Boulou to then reach Spain via secondary roads (read below).

Accessible secondary roads

Indeed, if you have to go to Spain today, it is strongly recommended to take the departmental road 900 and by Le Perthusin both directions of traffic. Traffic is very fluid this morning, at least as far as La Jonquera. The prefecture has also banned trucks from using the RD 900:

The RD 914, the radiant coast, by Cerbère and Port Bou is also accessible without problem, if you need to go to the Llança side and the Costa Brava. The Pass of Aresabove Prats-de-Mollo-la-Preste is also open.

Be careful, however, slowdowns are reported on the Spanish side on the Carpet roadto reach Saint-Laurence-de-Cerdans. As a reminder, la RD 66 (ex RN 116) is prohibited for heavy goods vehicles in Perpignan and Bourg-Madame.

Big difficulties in La Jonquera and Figueras

Finally, as mentioned previously, due to the closure of the AP-7 in Figueras and La Jonquera depending on the direction of traffic, major traffic difficulties appear in these two border towns.

At La Jonquerathe central avenue, which runs along the highway to the north of the city, is saturated. Many heavy goods vehicles must be present in the area. The surroundings of the Gran Jonquera shopping center are less dense.

In Figueresthe situation is even more delicate: several kilometers of traffic jams are reported on the AP-7 when arriving from Barcelona, ​​and the national roads (N-II and N-IIa) which lead to the motorway junction are blocked. attack by heavy goods vehicles, which are not allowed to enter the highway.
