ATP ranking: Djokovic doubles Alcaraz and becomes Sinner’s runner-up

He hasn’t played since his withdrawal before his quarter-final at Roland Garros, but he is this week’s big winner in the rankings. The Serbian Novak Djokovic, who is currently testing himself for Wimbledon, is the new runner-up to the Italian Janik Sinner, in place of the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, in the ATP ranking published on Monday. The Murcian thus pays for his early exit (in the round of 16) at Queen’s: he was thus unable to defend the points from his title acquired last year.

If Djokovic is indeed able to line up on the pitch at the All England Club – he is currently testing there less than three weeks after his right knee meniscus operation – the Serb will therefore be seeded number 2 in the tournament. Therefore, Alcaraz could theoretically face Djokovic then Sinner (or the other way around) if he wants to triumph again at Wimbledon.

Mpetshi Perricard gets closer to the Top 50

For his first tournament contested as world No.1, Sinner consolidated his lead by winning the title on Sunday in Halle, Germany, against the Pole Hubert Hurkacz. At the age of 27, he obtained the best ranking of his career, 7th in the world, up two places. The Australian Alex De Minaur is 9th, after falling two positions.

Argentinian Sebastian Baez, 18th, and American Sebastian Korda, 20th, both achieved the best rankings of their careers, having gained one and three places respectively. As for the French players, Ugo Humbert remains the N.1 tricolor, in 16th position. Adrian Mannarino is in 22nd place, after having suffered a drop of one place. Now 59th in the world, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, 20 years old, reaches his best ranking by overtaking 8 of his colleagues

Arthur Cazaux, 98th, has lost eight places and is under threat of soon leaving the Top 100, in which only ten French people appear this week. This is already the case for Alexandre Muller, 103rd, who fell 25 positions.
