The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on June 21 the official dates for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (CAN) which will be played in Morocco.
According to the CAF announcement, the competition will begin on December 21, 2025 and end on January 18, 2026. This decision was ratified during the meeting of the CAF Executive Committee, held by videoconference. This is a first in the history of the CAN, with the next edition which will be spread over two years.
The draw for the qualifying groups will take place on July 4 in Johannesburg, South Africa, adds CAF. It should be noted that the executive committee has at the same time set the dates for the final phase of the African Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco from July 5, 2025 to July 26, 2025.
As a reminder, Morocco was chosen as the host country for CAN 2025 during a previous meeting of the CAF Executive Committee, which was held on September 27, 2023 in Cairo, Egypt.
