The transformations of French society over the last decades, both on a social and legal, economic and technological level, have had an impact on representations and practices in the field of sexuality and sexual health. In order to better understand these developments, the ANRS Emerging Infectious Diseases initiated and funded the research “Context of sexualities in ” 2023 (CSF-2023) carried out by researchers from Inserm and the University of 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. , with a multidisciplinary team. This is the 4th research on this subject in France, the last dating from 2006.

Three themes structure this research:

  • Study the diversification of sexual representations, practices and trajectories in a social context deeply marked by the evolution of relationships between women and men, by changes in lifestyles, by the development of digital spaces, by the challenges related to sexual consent and the evolution of the normative framework in this area.
  • Analyze the effect of living conditions on sexual trajectories, by observing how family, economic, professional, administrative and residential situations contribute to the development of new practices, to shape the capacities to negotiate a chosen sexuality and safe relationships, to access sexual and reproductive health resources.
  • Analyze the positive and/or negative relationships between different dimensions of sexuality and health status (mental health, chronic illnesses or functional limitations) at different ages of life. The research also questions the new modalities of access to the health system, in terms of sexuality education, choice and access to prevention tools and use of treatments. via digital platforms.

Finally, the CSF-2023 research is designed to provide key indicators for evaluating the national sexual health strategy for 2030.
