Corporal Fall, columnist for an internet channel, caused a sensation by asserting, in a video that went viral, that a coup attempt would have been foiled under the mandate of former President Macky Sall. He cited the involvement of senior military officials, including General Souleymane Kandé, recently appointed defense and security attaché at the Senegalese embassy in New Delhi, India. In response, Seneweb indicates that General Kandé filed a complaint against the author of these accusations, firmly contesting these remarks.

General Kandé, former chief of staff of the Senegalese army, was appointed to this post in India in May 2024, a decision which sparked debate in Senegal. Some observers saw this as a disguised sanction, a view that the general himself shares. Believing that his experience and his rank justified a post of ambassador, he appealed to the Supreme Court to obtain the annulment of this decree, as reported by Dakaractu.

Recognized for his contribution to military relations between and Senegal, General Kandé was also decorated with the Legion of Honor by French President Emmanuel Macron in June 2024.
