The first assessment drawn up by the Chadian army since the start of Operation “Haskanite” reported 96 Boko Haram members killed in the lake area.

The Chadian army took stock on November 10 of the first clashes the day before with members of the terrorist group Boko Haram as part of Operation Haskanite.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, 96 terrorists were killed and 11 injured in this clash. The army also specifies having seized 107 individual weapons and three collective weapons during this operation.

On the side of the loyalist forces, the General Staff deplores the loss of 15 soldiers and 32 wounded, all evacuated to N’Djamena to receive appropriate care, according to the press release.

The General Staff added that the hunt for “ residual elements » of Boko Haram continues.

Sunday morning, before flying to Riyadh, where he is to participate in the extraordinary summit of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) devoted to the situation in Palestine and Lebanon, President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno praised the courage of soldiers and offered his condolences to the “martyrs” who fell during these first ground combats.

Operation Haskanite was launched in retaliation for a Boko Haram attack on a Chadian army base in the lake region, which caused the death of around forty Chadian soldiers.
