COP29 opens in Baku, Azerbaijan on Monday November 11, 2024 when, according to a survey published in the Tribune du Dimanche, a third of French people are climate skeptics. Anne Bringault, coordinator of the Action Climat network, was the guest of France Info to talk about this news.
COP29 opens in Baku, Azerbaijan even though in France, a survey shows that a third of French people are climate skeptics. “We actually see that there is a sort of rise in climate skepticism, exploited by many sowers of doubt within social networks or in certain media”explains Anne Bringault, coordinator of the Action Climat network. She then adds: “There is only a minority in France of these people who consider that climate change does not exist. However, we have all seen very concrete signs such as the advance of the harvest date or the glaciers which are greatly diminishing in the Alps or elsewhere.rs”.
What if it’s because of the scale of the work that needs to be done due to climate change across the world? For Anne Bringault, there is no doubt: “The real answer is to show that we can get there, there are solutions and above all they are accessible to everyone because if it is a problem that seems too important, we will tend to put it aside and find others responsible”.
