The verdict is in for Ilias Akhomach and the Atlas Lions. The Moroccan winger, member of the Spanish club, Villareal, was taken out on a stretcher on Saturday a few minutes after his goal against Alavés for the 13th day of La Liga.
This Sunday, his club communicated on the nature of his injury, but without giving precise information on the duration of his absence.
“The medical tests that Ilias Akhomach underwent confirm that the Villarreal striker suffers from a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and a sprain of the internal lateral ligament of his right knee,” Villareal said on its official website.

Note that this injury occurs a few days before the November gathering of the Atlas Lions. Akhomach is part of the list of 26 players called up by Walid Regragui for the matches against Gabon (November 15 in Franceville) and Lesotho (November 19 in Oujda).
