DECRYPTION – To be elected, Donald Trump benefited from a surge in the vote of Latinos, young people, black men and women. But he also capitalized on several themes that turned voters away from his competitor Kamala Harris.
The pollsters predicted an ultra-close vote: they were not wrong. Because if Donald Trump is on the verge of winning the seven key states – Arizona has not finished counting but he is well ahead – his victory was decided by a few tens of thousands of votes, in the states of “blue wall” Midwest: Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. The differences there are very small, around 250,000 votes, including only 30,000 in Wisconsin. A trifle across the country, where more than 140 million ballots were counted. Once the bitterness of the defeat has passed, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris will have to analyze the reasons for this failure.
