In March, Jordan Bardella surpassed Marine Le Pen in popularity for the first time, in Elabe’s barometer of political figures for “Les Echos”. With 91% favorable image, the president of the RN is now more popular than the leader of the RN deputies (88%) in the electorate of Marine le Pen and Eric Zemmour in the first round of the presidential election of 2022.
A milestone reached by the head of the RN list in the European elections, 28 years old, that Marine Le Pen would like to see occupy Matignon in the event of her party’s victory in the legislative elections.
More popular among young people and executives
Jordan Bardella gains 7 points this month in positive image. In May, the gap was only 1 point, with 85% positive opinion for Marine Le Pen compared to 84% for Jordan Bardella. He clearly benefited from the media exposure linked to the European campaign and the successful nationalization of the vote.
“As head of his party’s list, he led the RN to a victory that the RN had never experienced before, which is necessarily acclaimed by its voters,” explains Bernard Sananès, the president of Elabe. “In the eyes of RN supporters, this success at the polls makes the possibility of an RN victory in the legislative elections credible,” notes the pollster.
With more than 90% positive image, Jordan Bardella receives, in detail, 65% “very positive” opinion compared to 51% for Marine Le Pen within his own electorate. He is not only more popular than Marine Le Pen but also attracts greater support.
Jordan Bardella is also more appreciated in the category of young voters, with 42% positive image against 32% for Marine Le Pen, and among executives, space for conquest for the RN, at 31% positive image against 24% for the former candidate for the Elysée.
“For the moment, voters do not see him as a rival to Marine Le Pen. If he showed signs of disloyalty, I am not sure that he would still be as popular in this segment of the electorate,” says Bernard Sananès, who underlines the complementarity of the duo formed by Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella.
