More than 200 Quebec police officers carried out a major operation this week which resulted in the arrest of 17 individuals involved in cases of sexual exploitation of children on the internet.
The operation carried out by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), in collaboration with the police forces of Montreal, Quebec, Laval, Longueuil and Gatineau, led to around twenty searches relating to the sexual exploitation of children everywhere in the province.
“In total, 17 men aged 38 to 80 were arrested and appeared in connection with charges of possession, distribution and access to child pornography,” indicated the SQ, which specifies that computer equipment was captured for analysis.
“Solid work by the teams fighting against the sexual exploitation of children on the Internet (ESEI) of the SQ and all partner police forces!” responded François Bonnardel, Minister of Public Security of Quebec.
The SQ’s investigation team into the sexual exploitation of children on the internet invites the public to report any situation of sexual exploitation of young people on the internet at the following address: www.cyberaide.ca.
