Bruno Le Maire promises a reduction in electricity bills

A promise on electricity to compensate for the announcement of the 12% increase in gas prices at the beginning of July.

While purchasing power promises to be one of the strong axes of the legislative campaign which opened urgently after the announcement of the dissolution of the Assembly on Sunday evening, Bruno Le Maire spoke committed Tuesday to a reduction in electricity bills of 10 to 15% in February 2025.

10 to 15% drop next February?

“The electricity bill of each French person will fall by 10 to 15% in February 2025. This is the commitment I am making this morning,” declared the Minister of the Economy and Budget on BFMTV/RMC. Because we have restarted nuclear power. […] Because we invested in renewables. Because we believe in the independence of France and its energy independence, unlike the National Rally which puts us hand and foot in the hands of the Gulf countries and Russia,” he added.

The benchmark natural gas sales price for July, revealed by the Energy Regulatory Commission on Monday, increased by 11.7% compared to June, to 129.2 euros per megawatt hour.

This price serves as the basis for numerous commercial offers from gas suppliers, since the end of regulated gas prices.
