The president of the Municipal Youth Council, Serigne May Seck, the municipal councilor, Ibrahima Diop, Aliou Sow, Mbeugue Diop, Mame Mor Diaw and Mor Cissé were all referred to the Mbacké Prosecutor’s Office this Monday around 7 a.m. under heavy police surveillance .

The six demonstrators, arrested last Friday for organizing and participating in a prohibited demonstration, are currently in the cellar of the District Court while waiting to face the Prosecutor’s delegate, reports Seneweb visited by Senego.

“Following the arrest of the president of the Municipal Youth Council Serigne Maye Seck and co., their supporters had promised to paralyze activities in Mbacké by declaring a ghost town this Monday. But the elements of the Mbacké urban police station, supported by reinforcements from the Mobile Intervention Group (GMI), deployed an impressive security system at the court level and the strategic axes. Commissioner Alioune Fall’s men are keeping watch to prevent any act of disturbance to public order,” our colleagues report.

Last Friday, a collective bringing together residents of Mbacké initiated a sit-in in the Escale district to demand the eviction of a service station for the construction of a roundabout.
