Bougane Gueye Dany, in his speech, first sent his condolences to the family of the former Minister of Finance under the Macky Sall regime, Moustapha Ba, who died the same day in London following an illness. After this tribute, he got straight to the heart of the matter.
From the outset, he reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Senegal, before returning to the progress of his trial in Tambacounda, on Wednesday October 30, 2024. According to him, this trial revealed neither winner nor loser. “Justice has simply proven that it remains the last bastion for the protection of our individual freedoms, often threatened by political maneuvers,” he stressed, adding that such a situation must be denounced. “We will be there to fight arbitrariness, embodied by this revenger of the political scene and his talibés. He confuses his hats of Prime Minister and party leader. His current position allows him to access confidential files of the State, which he is trying to dangerously manipulate,” he added.
In the same vein, he mentioned an incident in Bakel, where, according to him, on an unmarked national road, local authorities, under the instruction of their superior, sought to implement an illegal political decision, thus violating the Constitution . “They all acted like real Pastef activists to put me in prison,” he said.
Bougane Gueye Dany then recalled his past as a man committed to his country. “My commitment to my country and my compatriots does not start from today,” he insisted. He spoke of his humanitarian actions across Senegal, highlighting his efforts to help populations in distress. “Where was Ousmane Sonko in 2012, when I mobilized 500 million to help the populations affected by the floods? He was undoubtedly busy with questionable land issues, linked to his former mentor, sued for 8 billion by the CREI”, he said. “I am not seeking to shed the blood of youth through lies or manipulation to gain power. I am a man of truth, of justice, a humanist committed to good causes. “led to Tamba prison,” he added.
Bougane Gueye Dany victim of political persecution
The leader of Gueum Sa Bopp then expressed his feelings about what he considers to be political persecution. “In less than a month, I have been arrested twice. This is clear proof that I am the target of persecution orchestrated by Ousmane Sonko and Pastef, of which I am the main target. They are trying in vain to prevent me from exercising my right as an opponent, I was the victim of illegal arrests, arbitrary detentions and a ban on free movement in my country,” he denounced.
Detailing the circumstances of his arrest in Bakel, he insisted that the restriction imposed on him was purely political, and not based on law. “This political decision was disproportionate to the humanitarian nature of the mission of the Samm Sa Kaddu delegation, which aimed to come to the aid of nearly 60,000 Senegalese citizens affected in the department of Bakel, left behind,” a- he regretted. “The President of the Republic has never passed through this national road. It is embarrassing to see the Institution of the National Gendarmerie playing a political role in the service of Pastef and against the opposition, to the point of sending me prison,” he added.
Bougane Gueye Dany also expressed his gratitude to those who supported him during his stay in detention in Tambacounda, in particular the members of his coalition Protect Your Word and other political figures, expressing his sincere thanks to them.
In the same logic, the boss of the group Dmedia spoke of the ransacking of the headquarters of Takhawu Senegal. “It is high time that the President of the Republic demands the publication of the results of the investigation requested following this barbaric act against our brother Barthélémy Diaz,” he declared. He added: “For less than that, I was assaulted by elements of the gendarmerie and imprisoned for 12 days. How can we explain that, in the same context, Abass Fall, author of public threats and incitements to use of weapons, or still at liberty? It is the collapse of the rule of law in Senegal, in the face of partisan and one-sided justice. The Ministers of Justice and the Interior have created a real. ‘Pastéfien State'”.
