Mathieu Leblanc was arrested on Saturday November 2 by SQ police officers in Rouyn-Noranda. He was wanted for several reasons: arson, armed assault, carrying a weapon with dangerous intent, disguise with criminal intent, uttering threats, extortion as well as for criminal harassment. These accusations are linked to events that occurred in September 2021, i.e. September 10 and 12.
An arrest warrant was issued against him in September 2023 and an appeal to the public was launched on March 13 to find him.

An SQ spokesperson told Noovo Info that a police operation in a building took place on October 30 in Abitibi-Témiscamingue following information that Leblanc was there. A prevention perimeter was then set up, but the suspect was not there. It was finally patrol officers who arrested the 34-year-old man last Saturday.
Leblanc appeared by telephone. The SQ specifies in a press release that he will remain detained for the remainder of the procedures.
