The President of the Republic of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, called on more countries to recognize the State of Palestine, saying that it is “the best response to the genocide perpetrated by Israel in Gaza.”

The Turkish Head of State spoke on Monday at the inauguration ceremony of the 40th meeting of ministers of the ISEDAK countries (Permanent Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation OCI).

He reserved a good part of his intervention for the crimes and massacres that Israel has been committing for more than 13 months in Gaza and Lebanon.

Erdogan insisted that “one of the most savage genocides of the last century has taken place and continues to be carried out in Gaza.”

But the Turkish leader wanted, on this occasion, to salute the bravery of the Palestinians.

“The Zionist regime and its supporters have committed, for 13 months, all types of cruelty and genocide. But they have not succeeded in making our Palestinian brothers give in,” he stressed.

Faced with massacres and genocide, the Turkish president advocated solidarity and the union of the Islamic world in particular.

“It is essential that the Islamic world puts aside its differences to support the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian and Lebanese people,” he said.

For Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a greater number of countries must officially recognize the State of Palestine, a sine qua non condition for a solution in the region.

“One of the most beautiful responses that can be given to the Zionist aggression against Gaza and Lebanon is that more states officially recognize Palestine,” he once again defended.

Furthermore, the Turkish president indicated that his country continues to provide essential humanitarian aid to Gazans.

“So far, and with the support of the Egyptian authorities, we have sent more than 85 thousand tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza,” he said in conclusion.
