The Hollywood actor goes beyond his usual reserve to call on Americans to vote against Donald Trump.
Three days before the American presidential election, Harrison Ford publicly supports Kamala Harris. In a video published on Saturday, November 2, the man who has always been very discreet about his political opinions breaks his silence to call for people to vote for the Democratic candidate. Criticizing Donald Trump, his Republican opponent.
“I’m doing something I never thought I’d do one day,” he says in the preamble. “I tell people I’ve never met who I’m going to vote for, and why I think they should do the same.”
“My vote will go to Kamala Harris and Tim Walz (the latter’s running mate, Editor’s note),” continues the 82-year-old actor. “Am I in agreement with all their policies? Of course not (…) But they both believe in the law. They believe in science. They believe that when you govern, you do it for all Americans. They believe that we are one. These are ideas that I believe in.
Trump ‘spent four years pitting us against each other’
And to move on to Donald Trump, who is running for the White House again this year after a first term between 2017 and 2021: “He spent four years pitting us against each other while shaking hands with dictators and tyrants around the world. These are not our values.”
And to conclude: “We do not need to ‘make America great again’, Donald Trump’s slogan, Editor’s note. We are already great. What we need is “It’s about working together again. What we need is a president who works for all of us again.”
If this is the first official support of Harrison Ford’s career, he had already declared his vote for Joe Biden (who faced Donald Trump) during the previous American presidential election.
